Connection to Innovation Plan

 

My innovation plan is to utilize technology to bridge the gap between home and school with the goal of introducing a flipped classroom with lessons presented digitally outside of class time. This will provide time for students to think on the lessons before using that knowledge during class and will open up opportunities for more exploration learning during the class time.

 

How this information is helpful to others

 

On a small scale, this information will help many of my colleagues as they switch from a double block schedule to a single block schedule and require mindful use of class time. On a large scale this information will help all teachers better understand how to flip a classroom and open up classroom time for more hands-on learning, student choice, as well as intervention opportunities.

 

Lessons learned or hoped to learn

 

I hope to learn the best structure for successfully transitioning students from a traditional classroom model to a flipped instruction classroom. This is not a common practice in our district so I hope to learn how to transition students and gain strong parent buy-in. I am also hopeful to learn new ideas for the extra classroom time that will encourage not only growth but foster a love of learning.
