5 Key Principles

Duration-This PL is 14 separate trainings spaced out over the school year.

Support-I and the other campus technology liaison will lead each training and facilitate the monthly collaboration meetings. We are also available daily to answer questions and provide insight as we are on the same campus. Instructional documents will be shared to the Google Classroom for this PL so that they may be accessed at a later time.

Active Learning-Students will be creating, accessing, and personalizing their own accounts as they learn to use these tools of technology.

Modeling-The entire PL will be conducted based off of a Google Classroom so as to model using the application being taught.

Grade Level Specific-The content is specifically designed for middle school, specifically 6th grade, teachers who are teaching students new to a campus with more freedom and historically less communication. The content is also designed for the parents of these students.

The Ins and Outs

Audience-The audience will be a combination of teachers and parents alternating training dates with one combined training.

Audience Needs-The audience needs to better understand parent/teacher communication through technology to prepare for a flipped classroom experience.

Collaboration and Effective Modeling-While the course models technology to flip the classroom by implementing prerecorded content videos, it also builds in discussion questions for walk and talks.

Self-Directed Learning-While there is direction on how to build the technology being used, their design is open ended.

Facilitation-Amanda Hamilton will facilitate instruction at all 5 foundational trainings with alternating rotations between all 3 technology liasons facilitating and mentoring for the remainder of the school year.
